Hope you guys are having a great start to the new season. I haven’t blogged in a while so here it goes…
I did my first ever drum workshop this past Monday at DiCenso’s drum shop in Weymouth, MA. I was super nervous at first but got comfortable and had a blast! Hey guys,
Below are 2 video blogs when I received/did a photo shoot with one of my new kits from Pearl. To stay up on all video blogs subscribe to my youtube channel.
I recently started a drummers Hang that takes place every Monday night at Presidents Rock Club in Quincy MA. If you are in the area come by and say hi! The main purpose for this is to get the drumming community together and enjoy talking drums!! Below you will see a video from the first hang with myself and good friend Greg Settino (who happens to be one of my favorite players around Boston) Doing some playing. I hope to see drummers all over start nights like this. How cool would it be to travel and stop by a drummer’s night in another city!!
Also wanted to let you know there are some great changes going on with the Life &Drums series! MORE Episodes MORE Often! and a lot more adventures! Be ready!
I used to always say “good people are hard to find.” I am so thankful that over the last few years I have learned the exact opposite. There are good people everywhere! The fun of this whole life’s journey thing is meeting those people and experiencing/sharing things with them. So get out and do it!!!
I spent the last few days in Nashville, TN going to meetings with the Kiley Evans team , as well as meeting up with friends and making new ones! Everything went great! Kiley, Mike and myself will be heading back again in June. Kiley’s new single “One More Spin Around” will be out May 1st and will be hitting New England radio stations a few weeks before that.
While in Nashville I was lucky enough to be able to stop by Pearl Drums to see my good friend Ron DePew. Getting an inside look gave me an even bigger appreciation of everything they do. I especially enjoyed checking out their media room! For those of you playing cajon I can’t recommend the Pearl boom box enough. I was also able to do some shooting for Life & Drums! Look out!!
The night before leaving for my trip I did a session at Scott Riebling Studios for Kayoum Cropper ( Sounds Like Funeral Music) w/ Eric Stobbart behind the board. I had an absolute blast with these guys. The tunes were super fun and we got to experiment with different ideas which was a real treat and I was able to use my 16″ hi hats!
Hope everyone is enjoying life and the people they have in it!!
I kicked off 2012 with going to Anaheim California for NAMM (music industry trade show) in January. It was a blast! I was able to check out tons of new gear and meet up with old and new friends. It really hit me while being out there how awesome the people are in this industry. At the end of the day we are all there because we love to play, listen, and talk music.
The week after returning home I headed with Dave Green (“Life & Drums”/Adoor photo/video) to NYC to meet with Derek Barbanti who is a producer at Showtime. He gave some great advice on how to make the show even better along with insight to where the sharing of media is going. It’s been really exciting for me to learn about a whole new field while drums still being involved.
I will be doing a lot of gigs this summer playing with Kiley Evans ( I will post dates here soon or you can check out KileyEvans.com). Her and I will also be heading down to Nashville for some meetings ( and to see some friends!) at the end of March. If you haven’t been to Nashville I strongly recommend it!
To all my students: You guys and girls have been on fire lately. Thank you for all your hard work and keep it up! You inspire me on a daily basis! Hope Everyone is having a blast!!
